NEVADA’S CHALLENGE
3.3%
of Nevada kindergartners have a vaccine exemption. Our exemption rate is the 16th highest in the United States, higher than the 2.5% national average
31
STATES
(including Nevada) reported more than 1,282 measles cases in 2019 – the highest number of cases since 1992. These statistics are stark reminders of the importance of vaccinations and the economic impact of disease outbreaks on public health budgets.
ONLY
61%
of Nevada’s toddlers have received their first MMR dose on schedule, putting a significant number of babies and toddlers at risk for contracting this very contagious and serious disease that can lead to pneumonia, swelling of the brain, and even death.
THERE IS A SOLUTION
Common-sense policy changes can ensure safer schools and childcare facilities, while supporting public health efforts to build healthier communities.
Vax Nevada Kids is dedicated to improving high vaccination rates as the best way to ensure that all Nevada students and families — including those who cannot be safely vaccinated — are protected from preventable diseases. These diseases are, at minimum, physically and economically harmful. At their worst, they are deadly.
WHO IS VAX NEVADA KIDS
Vax Nevada Kids is every Nevadan committed to ensuring the health of Nevada’s children — from the healthcare provider who advocates for vaccination to the parent who wants the safest school environment possible for their child.
